Rented a car from Denver International Airport on 5/26/16 to drive to Pueblo West, CO. There were hail storms which moved through the area right after I landed....

I landed at 1:30 pm, storms came through at 2:15 and were moving east quickly.

I waited for my checked bag...got on the rental bus to take me to the office. Took extremely long for them to check me out and when I finally did the walk around the car with the Enterprise representative we did the normal look for noticeable scratches or dents...nothing found (BTW car was wet and covered in water droplets). The car was parked under the overhang and I noticed no hail dents (although would be hard to see with the car covered in droplets of water) at the time of rental nor did the Enterprise rep who was also looking. I left DIA at 2:24 pm according to the rental receipt which sounds about right....for a 130 mile drive to Pueblo West where I had arranged for a pick up when I arrived. My rental receipt shows that I turned the car in at 3:10 pm.....does not show where but does show that I had travels 130 miles....hmmmm how did I travel 130 miles in 46 minutes on traffic heavy highways???????

Traffic was not the best and it took me about 2 hours to make this 130 mile trip. There was rain along the way but no hail.....once I arrived in Pueblo I pulled in to the Enterprise location to check the vehicle in about 5:15 pm after filling the tank with a small amount of fuel. The representative there proceeded to do a very very detailed overview of the vehicle with a squeegee to dry it as she went and, as others have mentioned, look across the panels at very close distance....nothing like the check out. She noted two small indentations....maybe hail maybe rocks who knows they were soooooooo small you could barely see them, although if the car were driven through hail all of the top panels would have been covered with multiple indentations not isolated one or two spots.

So...she asked if I had driven through the hail....I said no because I had not, and know I had not. She ignored this and entered it on the receipt to be checked....she informed me they would "shop" it to determine how much hail damage was done and mentioned that her husband works in Colorado Springs and it hailed there....again, I told her I did not drive through any hail and at this point was beginning to lose my cool. I checked the hail reports for CO Springs that day and they did get some hail around 2 pm....it was well east of town when I came through. I asked when this "shop" inspection would be done and was told the next day on Friday the 27th. I asked where the car would be parked overnight as it was outside uncovered where it stood.....the response was that it would remain in the lot uncovered. She indicated that if less than 10 spots were found through this "shop" exercise nothing would happen....feeling confident that there was no way that would find anything else I paid my due rental fee and left.

One month later with no communication at all I receive a Claim Number letter from Enterprise stating there were 172 spots in the roof, 11 on the left rail, 5 on the right rail, 102 on the hood, 30 on the trunk lid, 3 on the left fender, blah blah blah $2200 dollars worth to fix.......this came attached with a small pictured page which showed small circles but no visible damage.

I went and researched the storms that day between the times I had the car....they had all passed east of 1-25 and 470 by the time I had left the airport facility. I have yet to talk to the "Damage" group at Enterprise but have left a message for her......The one time I rent from Enterprise this is how they handle their customers, Never Again with Enterprise....I have long rented with National and have never had these issues...I rent a car almost a couple times monthly all with National with no issues....I am an Emerald Club Elite member with National and cant believe the difference in customer service for these two sister companies.

I will not give them my insurance company for claim nor will I let this go.....if Lawyers need to get involved then so be it. This needs to stop and it is obvious that this is not just an isolated case.

I am dealing with a similar scenario! Dropped off the rental car, contacted almost a month later by Enterprise claiming there was hail damage.

We didn’t encounter any hail on our trip! And the branch manager doesn’t seem to think it’s an issue at all that they didn’t notify us for a month that there was an issue!
